I bought a car from here in September.
Previously in the test drive there were some
problems, one of which was the aircon was not
working. This was fixed before I collected it
but 2 weeks after collection it ceased to be
effective again. I also had the car checked
over by my own garage. Some problems were
found including a split trackrod end boot,
which is an MOT failure. Worrying because the
car was provided with an MOT from Grafton
Garage and had only covered a few miles
before I had it checked. Anyway the problems
were fixed again under warranty. The problem
I have is with the salesman's attidude when I
expressed a concern the aircon was not
working, but I couldn't test it because of
the cold weather. He sent me EXTREMELY
sarcasatic and rude emails (the following is
a direct unchanged extract):
" I suggest you cut me some slack
On purchase ,we regassed the air con and
checked it and it was fine
When the car came back under warranty , we
checked it again and no fault was found.We
did the other warranty work.
What , exactly, do you want me to do if 6
weeks later you still don’t know if you
have a problem?
I am not familiar with the technique of using
air con/heater on together as a demister.In
fact I’ve never heard of it.
Book it in again.But please do advise us if
you want a demister , or air con ."
" You seem to have your facts straight now
then.That always helps.
Our senior aircon/demisting engineer advised
you exactly of the FACTS when you collected
the car
FACT – We tested and regassed the car
before delivery.
FACT – We tested (Pressure tested as per
industry standard) , and found no fault.Added
a leak cure and re-gassed.As is the industry
recommended solution and actually the best
way.
Our chrystal ball is out on loan to Russell
Grant.
FACT -After 6 weeks We don’t know whether
or not your aircon is working either. Please
refer to my previous email.Book it in.(and
not next year – as soon as possible- I’m
not carrying this on into next year , I can
just imagine the list of other issues
you’ll want sorting out (obviously that
were also missed before you took
delivery)"
In my opinion, this is a very poor way to
deal with your customers
Sure enough only 7 months after 2 attempts to repair the aircon on the Clio I bought from them, first time I try to use it IT DOESN'T WORK! and they refuse to do anything about it. Well the aircon on my 10 year old Citroen works perfectly and I would expect their repair on the Clio to last more than a few months. I am currently taking the matter up with Trading Standards .....
