I hired a car at Geneva Airport, but after two days it suffered a breakdown which was subsequently identified as a failed alternator which resulted in a flat battery (confirmed by the Fiat garage to where the car was towed). When I hired the car at the airport, I noticed that a red light on the dashboard remained on, but assumed that this would go out after driving the car, but it did not. I reported this to Customer Service(??), who firstly suggested that it was my job to check the car when I collected it even though I am not a mechanic. Then they claimed that there was no fault when I collected the car at the airport. After the breakdown, we had to wait 4 hours for the breakdown truck to arrive, but the car could not be repaired in situ and had to be towed away. However, the truck driver refused to take us back to our residence some one kilometre away, even though we were 82 (with a heart condition) and 79 years old and we had to walk back. I have requested that the hire charge be refunded for all the inconvenience caused, but Budget have repeatedly refused to pay it.
I will not be hiring a car again from AvisBudget and will let my family, friends and colleagues know.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!!!! I booked a car for the weekend on the 20th of October to travel from Sheffield to London where I had booked a ticket to attend a concert starting at 2pm on the 21st as part of my birthday celebration on the 22nd of October. on arrival at the Sheffield (17:42) I was told that there was no car available and I was offered a van to drive home and return Saturday morning at 8am. As you can imagine I was very upset but accepted the fact there was no car and refused the offer of a van. The frustration of not being able to drive down and pick up friends before joining my family (I'm a Londoner) got the better of me and I let out a scream as passing through the main gates kicking the fence surrounding the compound. that night (fri 20th) I spent tearful hours contacting family and friends to inform them of the situation, reassuring them that I was still going come. On Saturday the 21st I turned up at 8am to be told that a car was still not available, not happy I tried to explain my anger and frustration but was told it was nothing to do with them and it was management, so I waited. At 9 o clock I was still waiting and tried to ask again how long it would be. I gave an example of turning up at an airport with a valid ticket only to be told that the seat had been sold, the operative told me he understood because he used to be a landlord??????? and I admit it was to much and I replied "so you are used to F**king people over" I regretted it immediately and removed myself from the situation to try and calm down. Soon after the manger showed up and ask if I was OK to which I replied "not really". The manager disappeared to his officer only to reappear to inform me that because I had abused the operative he wasn't willing to hire a car to me. I went to the office to try and solve the matter explaining the conversation to the manager (the operative was present). During this the operative used the F**k word towards me and the manager said nothing, the operative used the F**k again, and on a third occasion he used the F**k again saying "I may be old but I can still knock you out" still the manger said nothing until I pointed out that this was the third time that I had been abused and the manager stepped in restraining the operative. So here I sit on the 21st October calling friends informing them I'm unable to pick them up, dreading shaking with fear and frustration wondering what words I can use to explain to my family why I cannot attend my birthday party or go to the one off festival I had been planning for mouths. Could I contact anyone to rectify this, yes Monday the 23rd and no sooner
